Best. Chardonnay. Ever.

2012 HANZELL. It's all I will drink for the rest of time.

Dear Oenophile,

Obviously, I'm exaggerating, but I have to say this is one of the most satisfying, beautifully-made domestic Chards I have had in years. I keep drinking it, and it is only getting better. We got offered a tiny bit more and I can only IMPLORE YOU to get some, get more than you think you will want, get LOTS, it is OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD. More on Hanzell below (if for some reason you don't know why it is the greatest already!!), but here is the deal; off-the-charts killer, "Burgundian", fabulously-made, finesse-filled wines. THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE. Throw away your $250 Burgundies -- just BUY, drink and cellar these amazing wines!!! PLEASE!!!

2012 HANZELL CHARDONNAY SONOMA VALLEY ---- $63.95!!

Brilliant aromas of tangerine, beeswax, chamomile and wet stone combine with our signature floral scent reminiscent of honeysuckle and jasmine. Pink grapefruit, pear and apricot expand out over the rich, viscous mid-palate. Though surprisingly well integrated in its youth, the concentration and vibrant structure of this wine suggest an extremely good vintage for aging in the cellar. Decanting one to two hours before serving is recommended.

HANZELL. Just thinking about it sends a quiver down my back. I once had a 1961 HEITZ Pinot Noir that was all Hanzell wine. It was unbelievably young, fresh and stunning, as is everything they made in the 60s and 70s (and really, forever, if we're just being honest). Where to start on the history of Hanzell?

California wines would not be the same were it not for diplomat James Zellerbach purchasing and planting the vineyard in 1953. They were one of the first to use French oak barrels, now ubiquitous. The first temperature-controlled tanks. The first to use nitrogen at bottling. And so much more (I encourage you to Google Hanzell for a full scoop). Let's not forget to mention Bob Sessions. Probably the most genius winemaker EVER -- a humble man who literally made legends -- 1968 Mayacamas Cab, anyone?? Bob was the winemaker at MAYACAMAS until 1973 when he joined Hanzell, and the ultimate, perfect pairing of place and winemaking was born.

Sheesh, I could go on forever! IN STOCK, ready to go!!
