We were pleased to get out and taste a new crop of recently arrived red Burgundies from Domaine Tortochot last week, and today I am thrilled to offer what was easily one of my favorites of the lineup (and EXTREMELY well-priced compared to some of the others!!) --- the Lavaux Saint-Jacques @ $62!!!
Many of you know Tortochot from previous offerings years back. We were one of the very first in America to sell them. Since then, of course, they've caught on and there is less to go around, but I snagged a few cases today. PRICING is still quite reasonable, for a Domaine of this level!!
Lavaux is a somewhat large vineyard, and is almost entirely south-facing, which, along with its placement generally makes a deeply colored, dark fruit and muscular style that always manages to never stray into heaviness. When you compare pricing on some of the other Lavaux Saint-Jacques producers, this is a HUGE value. A fantastic wine to "get into" Burgundy, too, if you are relatively new to it!!
2014 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN 1ER CRU "LAVAUX SAINT-JACQUES" -- $61.95!!
Here are the winery notes, although I found the wine to be a bit richer and lusher than these might portray!!!
"The resulting cherry red wine is herbaceous and spicy, possessing a rich structure with elegant tannins. It offers the highest degree of finesse and elegance with good structure. It has an airy grace and delicate fleshiness. Aroma of dominant red fruits, which provides this wine’s finesse and elegance. Drink in seven or eight years’ time onwards."
Killer deal --- while it lasts! In stock one week!
