Colgin Proprietary Red Cariad 2009, 750mL (WA97) from The BPW - Merchants of rare and fine wines.

Colgin Proprietary Red Cariad

750mL

Vintage: 2009
Region: US
Appellation: Napa

WA97
Rated 97 points by Robert Parker`s Wine Advocate: `The 2009 Cariad Red Wine is a blend of fruit sourced from Thorevilos and Madrona Ranch in St. Helena. It is deep, sensual and beautifully balanced in its dark black fruit, menthol, spices and licorice. This is a much firmer and more structured wine than the Tychson Hill. It doesn`t have that wine`s sheer early appeal, but it does have the structure to age gracefully for years. Smoke, savory herbs and licorice are some of the notes that frame the explosive finish. The blend is 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026.`Additional Notes from the Wine Advocate: `Colgin fans will delight in the 2009s and 2010s, two vintages that are fabulous here. The 2009s capture the silkiness and early approachability of the year. They are incredibly appealing wines. The 2010s will probably prove to be even better. I tasted the 2010s from preliminary blends and then in several pure component lots. Let`s just say there is a lot to look forward to. There is no expense spared at Colgin, and it shows in these striking wines. This is a great showing from Ann Colgin, her husband Joe Wender and their winemaker Allison Tauziet.` -- Antonio Galloni in the Wine Advocate
