Rated 95 points by the Burghound: `(from 7 different parcels of 48 year old vines that total 1.7 ha). An overtly floral and distinctly cool nose features subtle spice and mineral reduction aromas that are followed by rich, powerful and broad-scaled yet quite finely detailed and pure flavors that are underpinned by a firm acid spine and an intensely citrus-infused finish. Even though 2009 in general is not a great terroir vintage, this could not be mistaken for anything but great Chablis.` -- Allen MeadowsMore Information from the Burghound: `The always direct Vincent Dauvissat candidly calls 2010 `a vintage that experienced a difficult flowering. We had 3 weeks of rain and cold so there were a lot of shatter and shot berries, which explains why we had such small yields overall. For example, in certain 1ers we were down as much as 40% though overall, I would put the crop at 20% lower than normal. We began picking on the 21st of September and it?s important to point out that there were a lot of differences between early and late maturing sectors. Those picked before the rains fell on the 25th tended to have better concentration and higher acids and sugars, compared to those picked afterwards. There was also a bit of botrytis that developed in the later picked fruit. It doesn?t sound like much but those 4 days of relatively high temperatures and dry weather made quite the difference. Potential alcohols ranged between 12.5 and 13% and thus nothing was chaptalized. Ironically, and completely contrary to what one might reasonably think, I prefer the wines that were picked after the 25th as they have better overall balance. In a sense, 2010 is really two vintages in one. What I mean by that is that the early picked fruit made very dense and powerful wines that resemble 1986 and the later picked fruit made wines that resemble the more elegant and classic 2002s. Thus, it?s very hard to generalize about what vintages might reasonably compare to 2010 because I honestly can?t think of any. There was also quite a bit of malic acid yet the malos were done by January. It just shows that wine is a lot like people, you just don?t know how they?re going to grow up.` As to the in-bottle ?09s, they have turned out magnificently and in most cases have come in at or near the top of my predicted ranges and in one case, exceeded them. Dauvissat commented that his ?09s are `wines of pleasure that will be enjoyable young but have the requisite concentration and balance to age as well. Stylistically, I prefer the Dauvissat ?10s but his ?09s are much more classic in style than the vast majority of what the region produced in 2009. Note: Because I often get this question I will add that according to Vincent Dauvissat, the Dauvissat-Camus wines are 100% identical to those that appear under the Vincent Dauvissat label.`
