Jonata Sauvignon Blanc La Flor de Jonata 2005, 750mL (WA91) from The BPW - Merchants of rare and fine wines.

Jonata Sauvignon Blanc La Flor de Jonata

750mL

Vintage: 2005
Region: US
Appellation: Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Barbara

WA91
Rated 91 points by Robert Parker`s Wine Advocate: `The 2005 La Flor de Jonata (100% Sauvignon Blanc) was aged 10 months in 25% new and 75% two-year old French oak. This beautiful Sauvignon reveals aromas and flavors of melons, mangoes, honeyed grapefruit, figs, and earth. Medium-bodied, with superb fruit intensity, excellent purity, and good underlying acidity, its acid profile, richness, and time in wood give the wine a white Graves-like style. Consume it over the next 3-4 years. It appears 2006 has produced slightly lighter, but high-class wines without the weight and power of the 2005s. The Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet Franc are especially noteworthy. The only wine that did not excite me was a non-vintage blend of 81% sweet botrytised Semillon and 19% Sauvignon Blanc. A combination of 2004, 2005, and 2006, the La Miel de Jonata was decidedly monolithic and one-dimensional compared to the other brilliant wines from this spectacular new producer in the Santa Ynez Valley. Fasten your seatbelts as these wines will give purchasers a serious ride for their money! Tel. (805) 564-8581` -- Robert Parker in the Wine Advocate
