Domaine Gerard Mugneret Nuits St. Georges les Boudots 2008, 750mL (BH91) from The BPW - Merchants of rare and fine wines.

Domaine Gerard Mugneret Nuits St. Georges les Boudots

750mL

Vintage: 2008
Region: France--Burgundy--Red
Appellation: Nuits St. Georges, Cote de Nuits

BH91
Rated 91 points by the Burghound: `This is a classic example of a fine Boudots as the nose speaks of its direct proximity to Vosne with the spicy, pure and airy red and blue pinot fruit nose that slides into the clean, detailed and textured medium-bodied flavors that display their robust but not rustic Nuits roots. There is ample extract that buffers the moderately fine tannins and excellent length. In a word, lovely`Additional Notes from Allan Meadow`s Burghound: `Gerard Mugneret`s son Pascal has now taken over the day to day operations of the domaine. His view of the 2009 vintage is that it was a `great but not perfect growing season. A perfect flowering was followed by some mildew and oidium pressure in June and July though August was superb. We began picking on the 10th of September and brought in a really clean crop with highly uniform maturities that averaged about 13% in potential alcohols. We had relatively generous yields without being excessive and the vinifications were easy and straightforward during the 14 to 16 day cuvaison with very little punch downs. Once we racked the wines into barrel the malos were surprisingly quick. As to the wines themselves, they tasted well from the very beginning and still do and about the only risk that I can see is that they might lack some freshness in time. But for now, they are charming and most seductive.` The Bourgogne, Gevrey and Savigny were bottled in September without fining or filtration.`
