Stone The Crows Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard 2011, (WE95) from The BPW - Merchants of rare and fine wines.

Stone The Crows Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard

Vintage: 2011
Region: US
Appellation: Napa

Staff Notes:
Stefan Blicker, owner says: Does this rock star Cabernet belong in your cellar (hopefully next to a 1990 DRC Montrachet and a 1928 Pichon-Lalande)? You bet it does. I think this is one of Thomas Rivers Brown's finest examples from his many high-profile clients. From an immaculate vineyard above Lake Hennessey in St. Helena, this is as plush, silky, and wonderfully complex Cabernet as can be found, particularly at its price, which is FAR LESS than some of TRB's other wines. "Stone the Crows" has a mysterious origin - according to one website: "There have been a few attempts to explain the origin of this odd phrase. A croze is the groove at the end of a wooden barrel that holds the end plate in place. It has been suggested that the expression was previously stow the croze, that is, break open the barrel. I can find no supporting evidence for that idea though and have to consign it to the realms of folk-etymology. The more prosaic suggestion - that it alludes to the practice of throwing stones at crows - is much more likely." These days, more appropriately, it simply denotes an expression of surprise and amazement, which I think is exactly what you will have when you taste this. Big Cab for hedonists!!

just $255 per custom 3-pack!!

WE95:"After a great inaugural 2010 vintage, this is another impressive Cabernet from this winery. The vineyard is in the Pritchard Hill area, and the wine is 95% Cabernet with 5% Petit Verdot. It’s a lush wine that’s rich in black currant, cocoa and plum flavors, enhanced by smoky oak. The wine shows enormous complexity, with layers of minerals and dried herbs that are hard to describe. It has a long life ahead of it, so drink now - 2022, at least."
