2006 SLEEPER Cabernet!

After a combined 30+ years in the business of fine and rare wines, creating a wine the three owners of BPWINE could be proud of was a natural extension of our mutual passion. Through the years here in Napa Valley, we have come to know so many talented and generous winemakers, vintners and friends in the trade who encouraged us to create and blend a wine we could call our own.  A wine we could drink, share, and celebrate life with. Sleeper represents that wine.

"Sleeper" is a term enthusiastic oenophiles know well. It applies to almost any wine that delivers intense satisfaction and quality that has not been “discovered” yet. Indeed, discovering and introducing wine lovers to these wines has been a major theme in our wine careers. It is also why we are so proud to bring you a miniscule 200 cases of this very dense and concentrated wine that we feel truly “over-delivers”! Intensely red/purple in color, and equally concentrated on the palate, this rich, plush Cabernet is brimming with wild blackberry, cassis, anise, sweet herbs, cedar, and creamy, spicy French oak (but not too much!). Structured, bold and very much a youngster at this stage, we recommend a vigorous decant and some airing time before serving. This Sleeper will age gracefully for a decade with ease, so putting a few extra in the cellar is a good idea. This is the inaugural vintage and we plan to continue our small-batch production as quality and sources permit. The 2006 vintage is just 150 cases!

2006 is a stellar vintage for Napa Valley, and our debut Sleeper is composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petite Verdot. Many lots were tasted for the final blend, and with the advice of experts, peers and countless hours of our own tasting experiences, we crafted the final blend to be a complete expression of our top-notch vineyard and grape sources, which range from St. Helena to the Coombsville area in southern Napa.  

The 2006 Sleeper is offered on a first come, first serve basis with no minimum or maximum purchase requirements. You may order via our website at www.bpwine.com, or simply mail or fax the order form back to us. Wines will be shipped late 2008, weather permitting.
